Three-hour enduro adventure for young racers
Beautiful fall weather provided the perfect setting for the Indian Summer Trophy Races presented by the British Empire Motor Club. The 57th annual event was an eventful one for Malcolm Strachan and car-owner Sasha Anis. Driving the Sequence-Garage.com Nissan 240SX Turbo with Anis, Strachan guided the ailing racecar home to a provisional second place finish in the 3-Hour Warbonnet endurance race.
With an hour to go, Strachan took over from Anis and was headed for a possible win, when the starter-motor cable shorted and when the pedal was depressed to shift gears, the engine would die. Strachan quickly realized how to circumvent the problem and shifted gears without the clutch for the remainder of the race. However, the results were overturned when Anis was found to have passed a slower car under a yellow flag, thus disqualifying the two young drivers.
Strachan will race next at the Fall Classic on the Mt. Tremblant Circuit in Quebec on September 23 and 24, the final race of the Quebec GT Series. Strachan holds the points lead and looks poised to capture his second Quebec series championship.
